FFXIV Battle System Overhaul Revealed!

Lead Battle Designer Akihiko Matsui has finally posted the Battle Reform Blueprint, the outline of changes that will completely overhaul and enhance Final Fantasy XIV's battle system.  These changes are scheduled to start coming with the next patch, 1.18.

Highlights Include:

  • Auto-attack
  • Continued support of solo play
  • Fostering skillful party play
  • Revisions to advanced partying skills such as crowd control and enmity
  • Dungeons
  • New Notorious Monsters
  • New job system unlocked through existing classes

Future Changes Planned:

  • Equipment and action bars saved for each class
  • Battle regimen system rework
